Science and knowledge are two words that are commonly juxtaposed as well as compared. Both are intertwined in the tension of attraction on clusters of meaning, both denotative and connotative. Sometimes, science and knowledge are like two different but complementary sides of a coin. This research focuses on the concept of science and knowledge in the teachings of Ki Ageng Suryomentaram. In addition, Ki Ageng Suryomentaram’s thoughts in realizing these two concepts provide a frame of mind in understanding science and knowledge more deeply and comprehensively. This research uses qualitative methods with a focus on the thoughts and teachings of Ki Ageng Suryomentaram through literature study. The results of this study show that the concept of science and knowledge in the teachings of Ki Ageng Suryomentaram boils down to the value of happiness and joy. There is happiness and joy that is obtained when one can demand, obtain, and practice knowledge properly and responsibly.
